Capcom 3, Capcom's reemployed much of the old MvC2 team, including the guy in charge of balancing the characters. Its enduring popularity owes a great deal to the freedom of gameplay that's allowed a decade of competitive innovation to transform the way the game is played, year after year. MvC2 is more than a three-on-three melee packed with fan-favorite characters. This is a life-saver (literally) when Dante's health bar is down to a sliver. One of Dante's special attacks changes him to his demon form, improving his resistance to damage and greatly upping his attack power.

He drops to his knees, whips out a guitar, and fires a purple blast of energy straight into the sky. Dante has this great attack to counter airborne enemies. I was pretty doubtful about Dante's addition when I sat down with MVC3, but I have to say, of the ten available characters, he became my favorite. A favorite special move of Redfield has him pull out each weapon he uses in RE5, one at a time, progressing on up to the rocket launcher. He doesn't summon zombies and he amazingly doesn't feel out of place amidst characters like Morrigan and the Hulk. In MVC3 he is a gun nut, pulling from a large cache of weapons to deal damage. If you think about it, Redfield in Resident Evil 5 is kind of an insane commando strapped with a powerful arsenal of guns. To Capcom's credit, Chris plays nothing like Jill. I expected more of the same from Redfield. I was never a fan of Jill Valentine and her zombie summoning moves from MVC2. But the real treat is getting to play as the new characters, who are all great additions to the series. Wolverine still has his Drill Claw, Cap still delivers Stars & Stripes. Capcom 2 have versions of their well-known attacks, though some have been modified. There are ten characters available for play in the E3 demo and it is an interesting mix of redefined classics and new entrants into the series:Ĭharacters who appeared in Marvel vs. It makes air combat more prevalent and should add some new strategy into the mix. Describing it, the launchers may sound cheap, but playing MVC3 it was pretty easy to break combos and even turn the tables on the other player. Your opponent could still set you up for a special or super move in the air or even tag out to bring in another character to continue the combo. If you think they will try and knock you up a second time, hit up and the launch button to evade and break the combo. If you're launched in the air, you can counter the follow-up by copying your opponent's next move. Hit the launch button in any direction-up to knock them higher, left or right for side attacks, or down to throw them to the ground. If you want, you can continue the launcher chain.

Once your enemy is in the air, you can choose to strike how you see fit. That's been simplified to a single button so that every character has the same ability to send an opponent airborne. In MVC2, each character had specific moves that would launch an opponent into the air where they could follow up for more attacks. The most notable change is the addition of a launcher button.
